MUSIC IS OVER

3. Step On My Feet

Back: HOME.

I am, ofcourse, a hypocrite. On my reflections on 'Promised Land' I talked about order and unity of identity and yet with these portraits I have split myself into many. Once again using the same A.I based method, this single's cover art strikes a different tone. If 'Promised land' is Apollo (a diety of order), follow up Single 'Step On my Feet' is Dionysus (a diety of chaos). The somewhat masculine, blonde "me" looks out severely and serenely, strong and upright. This darker haired "me" is androgynous, emicated and possibly drunk.

There is some irony in the fact, sadly, that this one more closely ressembles the real life me than the 'Promised Land' Cover does (at least at the time they were made). These elements of greco-roman mythology are such a natural fit that I cannot think of them as anything other than avatars of eternal personalities, fundamental archetypes (I do not yet know if they are good, exactly). The track was made with this pretentious yet eternal dichotomy in mind. Entirely production based, it is chaotic and "genre bending". The Dionysian refers to a breaking down of boundaries, to primoridal liquid states. This is the most musically modern and "progressive" track thus far. Yet, when writing this track, I realised that maybe this progress is not really what we are seeking. It was imporatnt for this particular song, for a particular time. Maybe pushing boundaries is not always what we need, but just a stage along the way; a cultural point in the grand cycle of chaos to order and back again.
